What We Like?
Sungods have been knocking around for a few years now and ever since they popped onto the scene most people were talking about their mix and match colour options in their build your own section of their website and the price. It was really cheap for a pair of polarised sunnies.
What wasn’t so well known but has become more and more important is both the quality of their glasses and their goggles and the fact that they come with a lifetime guarantee.
Great but how is this Footprint Free and why do I care I hear you cry! Well if you frequently, like the Team here, smash, tred on, ride over, drop from a great height or in any other way mistreat your eyewear this is a massive help. Rather than hording the damaged and broken bodies of your previous glasses in a forgotten cupboard, like a plastic crazed magpie, then buying a new pair you can fire them off to Sungod who will replace the parts FOC or even better they will send you the part you need to fix them yourselves. Therefore meaning you don’t need to buy another pair and throwaway the originals therefore reducing your Footprint. Simple innit.
Footprint Free Kudos
Sustainability
Made from plastic which is not great but the guys are currently trying to find ways to use recycled plastics in their manufacturing process.
As mentioned above lifetime guarantee means you buy and use less overall.
Traceability
All the glasses are made in two factories in China, which the Sungods team are very happy to discuss with anyone who is interested and whose practices they say are of the highest environmental standards.
Ethos
A small business mentality with a focus on what people want from their sunnies. This is why they are looking at moving towards recycled plastics where possible and have redcued their packaging by 35% in the last year.
Materials
Plastic, recycled cardboard
Could Try Harder?
On recycled plastics!
Any Freebies
We have used Sungods for the last 4 years and for the last year or so they have been free which has amounted to 5 pairs of glasses and goggles for trips and hopefully a few more Goggles for future expeditions.
